Not medical advice

Myofascial Protocol is an educational wellness program. It works on everyday muscle tension and holding, and it helps you measure your own changes. It is not medical, dental or other professional advice.

It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition. That includes TMJ disorder, bruxism, migraine and any other diagnosis.

The program is written by a manual therapist who works with jaws, necks and backs. Using it does not make her your clinician. She does not know your health history.

Results vary

The numbers in the app are ones you measure yourself. They can be useful, but they are not a medical test. Some people's numbers change, and some don't. We do not promise any result.

Medicine

Nothing in Myofascial Protocol is advice about medicine. Never start, stop or change a medicine, or its dose, because of anything you read here. Ask your doctor.

Ask your doctor before you start if

  • you take a blood-thinning medicine;
  • you are pregnant;
  • you have had a recent injury to your jaw, head or neck; or
  • you have been told you have a jaw, head or neck condition.

Stop, and see a clinician, if

  • your jaw locks open or shut, or your bite changes;
  • you feel dizzy, or your vision blurs, when you turn your head;
  • you have numbness, tingling or weakness in your face, arms or hands;
  • you feel pain that is sharp, electric or spreading, or that doesn't settle when you stop; or
  • you hurt your jaw, head or neck at any time during the program.

Get help right away

Call 911, or your local emergency number, if you have:

  • a sudden, severe headache, or the worst headache of your life;
  • sudden numbness or weakness in your face, an arm or a leg;
  • slurred speech, or trouble finding your words;
  • sudden changes in your vision; or
  • a fever with a stiff neck.

The safety rules, every time

Never work through pain. Tender is fine. Sharp, electric, spreading, numb, tingling or dizzy means stop. Never press on the front of your throat, anywhere you can feel a pulse, or the spine. Never hold pressure on the sides of your neck. Never forcefully turn, pull or crack your neck.
